There once was a sitcom episode where toilets were banned in favor of low-flow models. In the end it was proven that double-flushing was necessary to fully clear the bowl resulting in higher average gallons per use. Once again the early adoptor get sucked in by the ecology sales pitch; volume-per-flush rather than the more insightful and accurate flushes-per-load.

Click my cabbage.

The EPA added WaterSense in 2007, a new seal of approval for low-flow toilets. That’s great since they banned the old American BigCan seal found on 3-5 gallon models, back in 1992. It’s 2008, that’s 16 year in development to make a better toilet. That’s hysterical. Think about how many homes were built with crappy toilet performance. I’m using that if I ever buy a used house; bucks off for the crapper. That’s a lot of wasted time standing there waiting for the tank to refill for the double-flush! Is this similar to those crappy EnergyStar fluorescent bulbs we all raced out to buy? Or what. No way can I read under fluorescent duress.

Look for this new WaterSense label WaterSense logo to find a water miser, but that’s not all. You also get with pressure-assisted pump so you use 20% less water per load AND save time flushing. Now we have a standard for the amount and velocity of water necessary to handle the oversized American buttocks. It took 15-years years of study, so be sure to look for WaterSence approved products from Kohler and American Standard. We can probably expect a better light bulb standard in about 15 years.

That’s all the crap I’ve got for you on water saving.
